The Winnipeg Police Half Marathon is a fundraiser event which raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society. After covering the operating costs of our race, all excess funds go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. The WPS Half Marathon Race Director and committee members are all volunteers. We have no paid staff members. We strive to keep our operating costs low, while still providing a supreme running event to our participants, in order to provide the largest donation possible to the Canadian Cancer Society. With help from sponsors and local businesses, who provide food and services, often little or no charge, we are able to meet our goals.
All monies generated through pledges and donations for our event go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. Absolutely no money from personal pledges or donations is used to off-set any operating costs of our event.
Monies raised from the WPS Half Marathon go directly to the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society and stay in Manitoba for the benefit of all Manitobans who have been affected by cancer. Funds raised generally go to research programs but have also been used towards additional programs provided by the Canadian Cancer Society.
